The blooms are unique and striking, making it a popular choice for winter gardens. The leaves are a medium green color in the summer, turning to shades of yellow and orange in the fall before dropping.This shrub can grow up to 12-15 feet tall and wide, but can be pruned to maintain a smaller size. It prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. Witch hazel is also known for its tolerance to a wide range of soil types and its ability to grow in both sunny and shady locations.
